All of the links sober wolf posted are great.
I had to keep myself busy in early sobriety. It turns out I have a lot of energy when I am not drinking and popping pills all day.
Finding new hobbies , volunteering, taking classes were the types of things That got me out of my old circles.
Ive worked with a couple of different counselors and therapists , started practicing meditation and studying holistic type healing to stay off the pain pills.
these are just some of the things that helped me. We are all different and there are many recovery plans and methods out there today. Stay open minded and do not get discouraged if something does not work Right away. I wanted things to get instantly better but I had to put a lot of work in it, learn all new habits , and take the bad days along with the good. It definitely was not an uphill battle but sobriety is still the bees knees in my opinion
