Documentary - Alcohol Will Kill You
Documentary - Alcohol Will Kill You
Most likely the link to this documentary has already been posted here in SR - but I thought I'd share anyway. I watched this doc last night and it's quite a shocker. It has a one scene that I could not watch - not even though my parted fingers. A wake up call - and indeed...sobering.

I urge everyone to watch this documentary.

P.S. Let me know if anyone else had problems with the liver scene.

Wow! I just watched this! Shouldn't these evil alcohol companies be charged with involuntary manslaughter??? All they care about is money! They could care less about how many bodies they step over on the way to the bank. :-(

I grew up in the retail alcohol industry as my father had a bunch of Package Stores . The inside industry joke was to milk your best customers as long as you can and for as much as you can because they either die or go to AA. I've seen so many pathetic characters come thru the doors . In retrospect, I was watching folks committing suicide. Half gallons on a daily basis, fathers returning 7 cases of empties a week with their kids on a Saturday morning , a litany of sad events that are too many to mention. No other business is as cruel and insidious. You know the pic of the fried lung on cigarette packs ? I say put a pic of a diseased liver on alcohol bottles.
Yet , despite all the misery I witnessed I still did my best to drink my town dry. Ridiculous and sneaky thing this AV is . Things have improved with sobriety significantly . Cant say its been an even road with no blips but , most importantly, my thinking is improving and that is my biggest battle. Clear thinking means no drinking. Occasionally, I will run into some old customers in meetings, we smile and acknowledge each other silently knowing we are in a much better place.

Watching several of my family members suffer from alcoholism didn't stop me either.
I just wish they would get rid of the damn stuff! But they never will. People will just keep dying. :-(
A picture of a diseased liver on an alcohol bottle probably wouldn't stop anyone. Seeing all those alcoholics growing up didn't stop you, right?

My take away from the documentary was showing the consequences of heavy drinking. We don't know which drink will tip us over to liver failure.
