Still the Weekender Sober Thread June 18...

Yes Della I did. People were so friendly and everyone was happy. Gay even.
Saw some people that knew me back when.... Nice to see familiar faces. Laughed so much my side hurt.

I like regular Tofu in salads sometimes
I'm working on my old Lancia with an audience of two old boys. Not sure which is worse, the smell of the beer they are drinking or the roll up cigarettes they are smoking.

Good morning everyone. Or afternoon.
Overcast today. Everyone else is still asleep. I'm planning to meet a friend at a morning AA meeting. Other than that, I'm not sure. I may drive myself to visit my grandfather. My parents are driving my brother the airport. He's headed to China. Reuniting with his famiy and traveling until they return in 2 weeks.

Good morning, and happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Always a bit of a sad day for me, as I love my dad but all my family are still in the UK. Most holidays make me feel a bit lonely. I am a little loner, well, I like people and am comfortable with people, but I have very few people I "let in" and close to me. Days like this kind of highlight how alone I am

Good morning!
Happy Father's Day, fathers!
Back in the northeast from the Keys.
I miss the scorching sun, humidity and
outrageous fishing down there.
Did I mention the outrageous fishing? Serious stuff.
Fished all my life here. Bass, pike, perch, trout, pickerel,
occasional musky, c'mon. Ice fishing? HAHA.
Best part about that was drying off by the wood stove.
Fly fishing for smallies and native brookies? Whoopee!
Had more fun feeding my oscars with goldfish.
Actually, I've enjoyed reeling in monster carp
at a local river on light tackle. Fight like heck.
After last winter, I've had enough snow and cold
in my bones. Summer here usually lasts 2 weeks.
Summer there is most of the year.
Autumn? Couple weeks here.
Spring? Heat, AC, heat, AC, repeat.
I'll take summer. Less clothes. More sunscreen.
No thinsulate bib, parka, mad bomber hat, gore-tex boots,
face mask, gloves, nope. Well, maybe for venison season.
Next thing ya' know it's the "holiday" season.
Walmart and the like are already putting out suspiciously
large amounts of bagged candy. Hmmmm. It's not even July.
OK. Sorry. I didn't mean to offend any skiers.
Rant over. Lunar has landed. Whew.
Now for the serious stuff:
Mesa, Happy Anniversary!
saoutchik, Webers!, NICE! I had a Holley 650 double pumper
on a '69 vette. The trick was dialing in the right throttle cams
and power valve. What are you putting them on?
Della, Finger Lakes, eh? I've got a place in Oneonta.
Actually October can be spectacular there.
Ruby, I didn't see any flamingos, but there were beautiful
green iguanas everywhere. Hope your party was a grand slam.
Tetra, Ruby is right about the left. (arm)
learningagain, my dad used to get poison ivy after golfing.
He swore that by washing with a bar of octagon soap, it would heal.
Behan, sorry you burnt your wings, nice 4x4 in that avatar!
I could use one of them pups.
Conquest, I'm not a father, but I'd take an industrial garage fan
anyday over cologne. Your dad's a lucky one!
Brain, sounds like you have quite the victory garden
in motion. Any zucchini? Scotch bonnet peppers?
I can keep going, but this post is waayyy too long already.
Have a fantastic day, all!

Hey lunar! We are heading to Sanibel, Fl mid-July - my 8 year old loves fishing - any recommendations on types of fishing etc that would suit an 8 year old? He managed to reel in an 8 pounder catfish this week, and all he talks about is sea-fishing, but not sure what will be fun and feasible for him.

Good morning! Happy father's day.
Weasel, I love the picture of the boy and the turkey. I do feel sorry for the animals that feed the masses. If I buy meat, I only buy it from stores that guarantee humane handling of the animals.
Camping was wonderful. First time sans alcohol. Nice to be among ponderosa pines and in the mountains. The dogs behaved until the man in the next site started munching on beef jerkey...they flew over to him, dragging their leashes. He got really mad, yelled, and complained to the Rangers. He put a sour note on the excursion for me because I didn't think he had to be such a grouch. But.....I should have had them tied up. I'll be more careful next time.
it's always good to be in the home sweet home. I forgot how cold it gets at night at 8500 feet. Fortunately I was prepared with warm clothes and a down blanket.
Ok....I'll be a around today....See you later.

learningagain, I've never been to Sanibel. Heard there's awesome
shell collecting there, though. Regardless, I wouldn't go out on
a private charter, with a youngster. Pricey, possible seasickness, etc.
Now that your son is "hooked" on fishing, don't spoil it with a rough
trip. The whole idea is to let him have fun and catch fish.
Action, not waiting hours for the "big one", in rough seas.
