Recovering alcoholic
Hello everyone, my name is kristine and I'm an alcoholic. I recently got out of the army honorably and last year I did my second stint in rehab thinking I would be ok. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism which is from my alcoholism I lost the weight in rehab but gained it back and now I'm overweight in my eyes (I have a very poor image of myself) anyways, I've been home in nj for the past 4 months and I started drinking heavy again I've recently stopped for 6 days. I'm here for support aND I would love to get to know some of you. Any vets out there?
Oh! There are great online group meetings here on SR, on Tuesday and Friday evenings. The forum is quieter this time of night (day) but picks up plenty of steam in just a handful of hours. Stay tuned.
Check out this running support thread as well with others who join in June. Many, many more resources here for you. Later!

Welcome to SR, Cregliak1! There is a ton of great wisdom and support to be found here. Not a vet myself but I'm sure there are plenty here who will speak up as the day continues.
I highly suggest joining and participating in the Class of June 2015 thread here on this same forum. It's a great way to learn from and help others who are in early sobriety.

Welcome. Glad to have you here. I am a veteran. I was a Navy Corpsman and served for 5 years. I was in the first Gulf War, and finished my time with 3rd Recon in Okinawa. There is lot's of wonderful folks on here with very helpful information. I don't post all the time, but I usually check out SR a few times a day and read what others have said.
It's so good to meet you kristine. Thank you for serving in the Army.
Nice work on reaching 6 days. We know how hard it is to get started - but things will keep getting better. You are not alone.
