Things have improved

It's been a while since I last posted so I thought I'd check back in with an honest assessment of how things have been going since I was last here. Basically, I've been sober and have not been smoking cigarettes. I say basically because there was one evening a few weeks ago when I drank wine, went to a pub and bought ten Malboro Lights. I felt quite high when I was drinking and smoking but rotten the next day. It's the only time I've drunk or smoked in 2015.

I think I should once again try to use this site as part of my recovery programme. It's helped enormously in the past. The reason I have used it less is because I go regularly to AA and I've got a sponsor. I also have a professional addiction counsellor. And I go to church.

My way of thinking about lots of things has changed and this is what's enabling to stay sober. The relapse, if I can call it that, was about me wanting to change my mood over something but looking back at it, it really didn't help.

It's good to join you again. I'll be posting more regularly now.

Glad you're back. I'd add SR to the tool box and come more regularly. Fine tune maybe and reexamine what's going on if you tried to fix a mood by drinking. So many times I've wanted to do that but I know it won't make anything better.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome back to the Forum. The other day I met a person at an AA meeting who said she was finding it difficult to sleep at night without a drink. I recommended checking out this site. Not because we're all so boring we'll send her to sleep but because we're around 24/7.
