Boring sober evenings
Hi all, my first post here, thought I'd give it a go as I'm so bored! I was a alcoholic of about ten years and now sober for one year after detox. I've found new mates and my obsession with my motorbikes keeps me busy when not working, but evenings are killing me! Bit bored of smoking dope every night so stopped that too, about 2 weeks in now but it's just Same sh!t another evening. I need some ideas of what to do? Cheers
Hi, Welcome! I'm sure you can think of a class, a hobby or a sport you could try.

Only thing I've found so far is going for ride outs and events with new biker mates. Problems start as soon as I get home and it's like now what? I bought a project bike to do up which is great for killing time in the day. Watching tv and saving facebook just ain't doing it for me. This is when the old " I could prob just drink weekend evenings" thoughts come in..... And that I know would be a very slippery slope!

What's interesting is I can look through a list of things todo and still none appeal. Always feel like I'm skirting around the one thing we want to do. I suppose if nothing else I've found a new site to look at (here)!
What about volunteering in your community? Lots of opportunity to give back and get out of your own head. Meet new friends too. What about volunteering at an animal shelter or soup kitchen?

Computers cause me rage lol. Evening course might be a good idea tho, might see if my local college offer a mechanic type course or something. Trouble is nothing replaces the content of getting pissed up with mates, the idea of always being sober is depressing!
You're romancing the high. It wasn't all lightness and fun, now was it?
Try thinking about all the grief it caused you - that's what got me to stop, and stay stopped. It wasn't the good times, it was the bad.
Don't worry about forever. Just make it through today, go to bed sober, wake up healthy and alive.
There are other ways to be excited about life. Intense exercise, an exciting hobby. Making plans for a vacation, etc. I don't let myself go down that path of feeling like I've lost out on something. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Haha, fair enough. Maybe not then :-)

I tried the link as well ArtFriend. It went to the home page OK...but trying to go anywhere other than that it would show "Loading" and never do anything more. I'll try it again later. Thanks for sharing.
As for Bat's delima, that list should spark some ideas. I know it does with me.
