Help

I am not one overcoming recover, that would be my sister but I almost feel like I am too. My sister has been a user of pain medication for almost 2 years now. My family and I have done everything on our will power to get her to stop. She has been stealing from us and constantly lying to us. We finally got her out patient help because she believed she wasn't that bad where she needed in patient. She got kicked out of the program because se was not showing up like she was supposed to. We found out a couple months after she stopped with out patient that she was using again. My parents gave her the ultimatum of going to rehab or never speaking to her family again, I head excited she chose rehab and was going to get better. She did a 30 day intensive in patient close to home. When insurance wouldn't cover anymore they flew her to Florida to live in a half way house. She was doing amazing and was 65 days clean of everything...so we thought. My mother got a phone call from her half way saying she relapsed using heroin Xanax and Percocets. I can't believe she lied to all of us AGAIN. We gave her anything she ever could possibly need to get clean. But I guess for her selfishness that was not enough. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance from those whole struggled with this problem as well or even someone who has a loved one who went through it. Because I am at my wits end, I do not know what to do anymore. I'm about to give up on her but I can't because she is my sister and I love her so much.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do for her. :( She has to want to get clean for herself. I would suggest getting support for yourself in our Friends and Family forums and also NarAnon.

I'm sorry for what brought you here but want to welcome you to the SR family.

I would check out the Freinds and family forums. Unfortunately, there Is not a lot you can do to get an addict clean if they are not ready.
