wasted weekend... trying to turn page

I've been doing pretty well so far as beating the drinking habit.

One strategy that has been helping me is going to the gym at about 8:30 pm and staying until closing time which is 10:00 pm. I basically have no friends to visit - alienated them all over the past two years - but if I stay out at the gym, it keeps me out of the drink.

The thing that most increases my chances of drinking is the feeling that I have nowhere to go and nothing to do when I get home from work. For this reason, holidays from work and long weekends have been the worst.

I think it would be even better if I could find some sort of late night group - not a support group or AA - but some recreational group like a aerobics class or something. I need people in my life.

I'll keep at it. 8 days is nothing to be proud of but I am feeling better, and maybe even losing some excess weight.

Hi! Started my day at an early mass. Found myself praying the Serenity Prayer a lot. GOD grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN..... Living one day at a time, ....... Nice prayer. Prayed for all of us struggling.

LEK. I'd be thrilled to have eight sober days. Good for you.

Let's keep trying.
