Im back (Plan help please)
Quit for 3 months Dec- March (then drank "here and there").
Im going to nail this. I am.
Ive learned just enough (mostly here) that my having GOOD "plan"
is critical
I now know I CAN DO THIS if I can run with a good plan for me.\
My drinking is only in evening - after work cause I think Im bored.
BTW I have three hobbies that are healthy - but I dont do them when Im trashed
Looking for plan input - cause tonight Im going for it!

Welcome back, livingnow.
Getting invested in your hobbies is definitely a good part of any plan.
My suggestion is that you find some folks here or in AA or another recovery program who have some good sobriety and a life/outlook that you'd like to have for your own and ask what their plan was and then emulate them.

Hi.
The plan that worked for me IS to NOT drinking even if my A$$ falls off.
I didn’t like this part. NOTHING else replaces my getting and staying sober. NOTHING! The reason is we have nothing if we drink except the empty misery of a pit of despair.
I needed to want to be sober more than I wanted to drink because I got tired of being sick and tired of being a miserable drunk. That’s a good remember today, many years later.

Part of my plan was having different healthy things to drink in the house like herbal teas in bulk,
fruit juice and sparkling water, chai blends and decent caffine-free coffee & substitutes so that I could make a "drink" in the evening which was special.
That really helped me.
Exercising, establishing a good relaxing shower / reading / journal writing evening routine also made the evenings more stable and pleasant.
You have to distract yourself if you are tempted in the evening, and don't give in until the new routine is established.
You can do it

Hi, I agree with Hawkeye about having a range of drinks in the house. The urge often strikes after work or upon arriving home, so concentrate you plan on these times. Don't finish work hungry, and eat your dinner early, as filling your stomach can take urges to drink away fast.
Try deep breathing for relaxation when urges strike; this worked like magic for me, making me think drinking had become my body's habitual stress relief.
Jump on to SR every evening at first to give yourself a motivation and morale boost.

my problem was me, not the drinking.
drinking was just my solution to me.
take the drink away and I'm left with me.
I needed a new solution to me and I found it in a spiritual way of life.
I used the 12 steps of AA. It's not for everyone nor is it the only way, but it works for me along with SR on a daily basis!

Congrats on day 1!
As for a plan, yes one is needed, yes activities and strategies are required and so on but for me there is one essential, fundamental thing that IOAA2 put out there "Nothing else replaces my getting and staying sober!". That has to be point 1, point 2 and point 3 on a plan - just don't drink.
It reminds me of the Carl Sagan quote - "If you wish to make apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe". To me that means focus on the fundamental and absolute condition of not drinking, the sine qua non as the Romans put it (without which nothing).
This means to me that even if I don't make it to the gym on a certain day or don't journal or don't eat right but still don't drink then it is a good day. I do accept that that isn't the right attitude for the long term (hence a plan) but focus on the immediate that is in front of you.
Good luck,
Esox
