10 weeks! should be pleased

I've managed 10 weeks sober today, way the longest I've ever managed in more than 30 years of drinking. I am proud of myself, especially as the first week was just hell and the next couple a struggle to put it mildly.
Thing is, I hurt my back yesterday, a weakness I have occasionally and it's really gone, I'm hobbling around and I'm off work for the foreseeable, a week at least I'm guessing. I've an unopened bottle of brandy at the back of my cupboard and in times gone by this and painkillers would've sorted my week off......... I'm not going to use it, it's popped into my head a few times though.
I intend to give it as present to somebody or a raffle donation as it's a posh one, £50 worth. Maybe should just tip it away, symbolic for me if nothing else?
I feel like I'm moaning today and I so wanted to be jumping around that I had managed 10 weeks............. sorry folks. I'll hopefully post at 11 weeks that I've got through and I'm jumping!
Weather in the North of England is so lovely today, have a good one wherever you are XX

Ten weeks! Well done! As for the brandy, I vote for the symbolic tipping first but most importantly, get rid of it right away. Don't let it be there calling to you. Painkillers plus alcohol are a toxic mix. 11 sober weeks are calling....

Congrats on ten weeks, FarToGo! Sorry to hear about your back. I'll do some symbolic jumping around for you.

I'm also in the camp of dumping that bottle of brandy right now. Who cares what it cost? Having it around may end up costing you a great deal more than £50. Let other people buy their own booze and get rid of this one now.

Congrats on 10 weeks! I'm also voting for getting rid of the bottle asap. I once lost a quit because of some beers left in the house that I considered my "lucky charm" and was proud of having around unopened - until I opened them one day...

Just got up from my computer and did the deed, the brandy is now in the drain and the bottle in the recycling..... bye, bye.
Thanks you lot, you are so solid on here.
I also looked back at a post I left for another member (Neednewpath) about what to do when you get a craving and had to laugh at myself! so easy sometimes to talk the talk eh?

thank you again guys, a bad back is not such a big deal, I'll get through.
xx

Congrats!!! That is awesome!! I'm going on just over a month and I've never felt better physically!! Emotionally, well, after just a month being broken up with my ex, the emotional part of me is shaky!! When I get sad, I remind myself of my so sobriety and that THAT should make me happy.... and then I snap out of it!! The only thing I can do is TRY and hope for the best!! I'm learning to do "ME" again, who I've missed so much!!! I hope you enjoy your day! You're in England and I'm in NEW England... and the weather here has been wicked nice, but today it's supposed to rain any minute now! Blah! :-)

Congratulations. Why wait until eleven weeks to check back in? You're home and can't seem to move around very well, so why not stay close?
