Best week I've had in a long time.
Eating really healthy, taking walks, 5 pounds down in weight, blood-pressure much improved (it was a high reading that made me seriously evaluate what I'd been doing) and regaining motivation and genuine pleasure in waking each day.
I've lurked here unregistered in the past and thank you for your inspiring stories and honesty.

Hi Caramel, welcome to the posting side and congratulations on almost a week. That's terrific! It's amazing how a body bounces back once we start taking care of it. And with better physical health, our mental outlook improves as well. Keep going.
Thank you, folks, for the warm welcome and kind thoughts.
At my age I'm extremely grateful for any "bouncing back" the body does. Many in my generation of my family are on meds for diabetes, hypertension etc. and I'd like to avoid getting to that point if possible.
I'll check back in here from time to time and hope to post further progress
Thanks again.

Keeping it honest: sorry to say that after a day of minor domestic crises I succumbed to temptation last night after ten "good" days.
What's different, though, is my attitude - I'm more confident that I'll deal better in future as I recognise stresses building up before they become too much to cope with.
I've made too much progress health-wise this time to risk throwing it away again.

Caramel, glad you came right back in. Recognizing my triggers and then realizing that I do have the power to not pull that final trigger and take that first drink no matter what has been a huge part of my early recovery so far.
Hope you'll check in often. I highly suggest joining the Class of June 2015 thread on this same forum. It's a great way to get support and also help others who are new to sobriety.
