I'm new and i know my life is not suppose to be this way!
Initially, I thought NO I don't have a problem but deep down, I know without a shadow of a doubt I have a problem. I don't have a healthy relationship with alcohol. Im not sure when the downhill spiral started but im sure now that if I continue to drink I will crash. Already the shame that I feel is so overwhelming.
I want help, I want to stop and so help me God I WILL!!

Welcome to SR, BlessedLove3; glad you found us.
Use the shame as the catalyst to get sober and then put it squarely in the past; it has no place in your sober future.
The sober life is wonderful; get ready to experience it and truly live.

The great thing about sobriety is that the shame lessens as you learn who you are, without alcohol hiding that. You learn how you move about life on your own, without being drunk. In doing that, you start to realize that you are pretty amazing and that you are worth being sober for.

Hi, Blessed Love.
Welcome to SR!
Lots of us were at the place of shame related to alcohol overconsumption. Don't let shame bring you down, rather use it as a flashing indicator that something's not right and needs improvement.
You've reached an important starting point - recognizing that you have a problem which is not easy to do.
You can stop. Right now, at the moment, it may seem next to impossible, but take my words along with experience of all other people here who did it - it is possible.
There's tremendous support here - stick with us, and step be step feeling of shame will be gone, replaced by regained self-respect and hope.
Best wishes to you. Keep posting.

Welcome, this is an incredible website with great support. I know it is scary to think/admit you have a problem. I am working on my sobriety too, I am back after lapsing back into wine every night, 20 days for me in a few hours, glad to be on this journey with you. ::-)
