Very late but in!

I'm feeling bright and free today! I was scheduled to babysit my 4-y-o granddaughter and 1 y-o grandson for the weekend, but now my son-in-law has postponed the trip till their anniversary in November!

So the onslaught of screeching will not occur tonight!

MM, I saw your gigantic doors from NORAD. I've been inside doors like that, too.

For our 25th anniversary, we went to visit the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia. It is a very elegant resort from the 1800s where socialites and presidents used to spend their summers.

The reason we were interested, though, is because there is a huge fallout shelter underneath that was built during the Cold War for the President and Congress to live in case of nuclear attack.

The doors were really cool. Though we didn't get to see much of the inside because the facility has been bought by a railroad company and is now used mainly for data storage, what we did see was cool. We saw living quarters, the kitchen and dining hall, the infirmary, and a couple of other things.

To get there, we had to catch a van from the resort and wait at the hidden entrance until somebody activated the blast doors.

That was five years ago.

I know a couple who went last month--and now visitors just walk in through a connecting hallway--no more waiting for the blast doors to open. Plus, to keep the enormous resort profitable, they've installed a casino in an unused wing that used to be a nightclub.

late but in as well.

Wild wet weather coming. Came straight back here from work and got into making a huge pot of pea and ham soup. Winter food.

Happy Friday Sobrietists!

This afternoon I am taking the series 65 exam (Investment Adviser) for which I have been studying for the past 6 weeks. My scores on the practice tests have improved recently, so I have some confidence going in. I'd rate my chances of passing in the 70-75% range.

If I was still drinking I would never be in a position to even take the exam, so in reality I have already passed a much more important test. I think that perspective alone gives me an attitude of confidence.

For all newcomers:
Change is possible.
Hope is reasonable.
You can do this.

Good luck nons!

I had a good laugh coming into work to get to the gym. I recently had my car worked on at the dealer. They must have turned off the automatic settings for my lights. I was driving this morning around dawn so I figured if it was dark enough they would go on. Some guy passed me and screams out his window... "Turn your lights on A-hole!!!" Welp.... I turned them on and laughed saying yup.... I'm an Ahole alright!

Then walking into the building I see someone walking in the distance to the same door I was headed for. He had on those funny bike riding clothes I have a tendency to bash. I thought who dresses these people? Ugh...... Turned out to be the president and CEO. Very nice guy. We walked in together and I thought wow... This guy has over $80 million in stock to his name. Wonder what that feels like. ..... Still wears funny clothes!!!!!

At my desk and ready for the day.

Fromadistance.... Need to check in!!!!

Most days, our owner looks like Neil Young's little brother.

Hope no offense Tang. I get why they are good for the need. I am a cotton kind of guy. And I am certain others think I dress rather drab in my earth tones or loud when I love to wear my bright colors.

Doesn't really matter just I had to laugh at the situation.

Turn your lights on a hole? And good morning to you too, gentle sir! May you have a lovely day. What a cheery soul.

Dreary here with overcast skies but that's okay. Good morning all.

Winter weather for canguy, and soup. Good to see you.

Gilmer, you dodged that one. Temporarily. Enjoy the peace and quiet.

Talk to you all later

I understand the whole wind resistance thing, but do they all have to be huge advertisements?

I am a wears all black kind of girl. It is just easier that way.

Good morning Sober Enders!!!
Happy Friday!!

Morning all, planning to stay close this weekend, still feeling a bit off but at the same time, like I'm at the edge of something revelatory.

Dharma, love the photo of the yellow labs. My dog looks like the one in the second seat. Gotta love a lab!

Oh you adventurous thrill-seekers. Maybe that's what's missing from my life. I have an innate aversion to loud, fast machines and physical challenges. What a wuss I am. Most of the risky things I've done (other than stupid drunken antics) I did so my kids would take some risks. Like jumping off a cliff into Lake Superior.

Looks to be a beautiful sunny day. Happy Friday!

I like the all black look for my exercise attire as well, Olive. Some may say that my collection of black yoga pants is excessive... Those people aren't my friends. Lol

I've got an oral surgery coming up next week, so I've used it as an excuse to eat whatever I want lately. All that hotdogs with ketchup talk last weekend lead to hotdogs for dinner two nights in a row this week. (And for the record...with ketchup is the way I roll.). I think fajitas are in order for tonight.

TGIF!!! And bring on summer!

It's not just my yoga pants, Conquest.
I have thrown in a tiny bit of white for the summer, to the shock of most people who know me.

It's funny isn't it, I never feel like I have the energy to exercise later than mid morning - it's like I have a window of opportunity and if I miss it then it's gone.

Glad you are looking after yourself Ruby

Behan, I am at home over this weekend but on Monday I am off to watch the 24 hour at Le Mans with some buddies. We play a bit of golf over there too

It's something I have gone to for 20 years now - it used to be a 5 day long booze up but these days we are a bit more "pipe and slippers" types. Plenty of nice food and other distractions ( I am not the only teetotaler either)

I am still concerned but I also think it's something I need to do.
