Where to start?
 

Hi everybody.

Im 27 years old and I'm an addict.

I've been smoking weed since I was 16 years old, and have developed a cocaine habit over the last year and a half.

It has constantly kept me in a state of poverty. It has caused my emotions to go up and down. I've become erratic and introverted.

I've also come to the conclusion that all my friends do drugs.

I need help and I'm not ready to see a psyciatrist or attend a rehab. So i'm hoping to use this forum as a way to help deal with my issues.

Hi gummiriot and welcome to SR. To admit that you are an addict is huge and sets you on the road to understanding and conquering that addiction. Well done for that, I wish I had the courage to admit that when I was 27! You will find lots of help and support here from people who know exactly what you are going through. You will also find a wealth of experience and knowledge through reading through the forums. Good on you for taking that huge first step :)

Hi & welcome gummirot

Never done coke but I smoked pot for 30 years, so it's entirely possible to quit.

I had to make a few changes tho - changes in what I did for fun and who I had that fun with - I also got rid of all my paraphernalia.

It wasn't fun quitting - I was bad tempered and on edge, I sweated a little and I didn't sleep too well for a few days - but I got through it.
