Stay Sober Weekender thread Until 6/1 Part 2
Ruby, take your shoes off when you're outside. I walk in the ocean every other day - it really grounds me in a way nothing else does.
According to a new book called Earthing by Martin Zucker, you were experiencing the flow of the earth’s electric energy connecting to your physical body, which has been scientifically proven to promote healing and create a deep sense of well-being within us. Grounding is simple and it is free. You simply connect your bare feet directly to the earth and enjoy the organic healing benefits.

Thanks Mec. I haven't been to a meeting in a couple of weeks. I've not been able to find a babysitter. Part of my problem is sitting and doing nothing. I have little control over my workload. A transfer opportunity came up to the section I left. I'm contemplating applying for it but think it's a very long shot as I was at the very height of alcoholic craziness. People, especially supervisors, tend to remember performance issues. It's been almost 3 years now since I left but who knows. I'd be substantially busier. Way more under the microscope. Application due Monday and I haven't updated my resume in forever.
Thanks saoutchik! The issue is that I left the unit that is now seeking someone, after being offered a transfer to what I'm now doing. The old unit wasn't sorry to see me go. Numerous sick call ins, several leaving early incidents to go to Emergency room because of withdrawal anxiety. I'd have to live that reputation down and I'm not sure I'm ready for it at the moment. This is the second transfer posting I've seen in six months so another one will come along eventually.
And thanks Mec. You inspire me with your coming and going. Going to Blackpool.
I'm home before the dentist and feeling better already. Had some water. That's another thing I don't get enough of besides sleep.

It's nice when the sun seems to linger and the end of the day. I'm feeling a bit less down. Sorting some stuff for rummage sale. I have less than I wanted to have. I have no shortage of stuff though that can go. Just not the time to sort it.
Runners, take your places...for shotgun. I'll catch up with you at some point.
Done with dentist. Just a cleaning and check up. I don't have phobias about the dentist but I always feel vaguely ill after he pokes around in my mouth. Teeth are somewhat cleaner. Smoking and coffee take their toll.
Enjoying a couple minutes of quiet time in the car at the grocery store. I take it where I find it.

Somehow, the Computer Campout for Shotgun here brought this morning scene to Mind...

Glad you're feeling better, Ruby. My workday was so busy my head is still spinning, and it won't let up until the end of the month. Doesn't help that I've been unable to sleep more than 6 hours a night, sometimes less than that. Heading to a yoga class, hope that settles me.
See you all tomorrow on the next bus.
