Hi, this is my final attempt to quit. Smoked since I was 14 now 38. Longest I've quit us 6 months. A sponsor would be great to find. Withdrawing is brutal for me as I just feel ill pukey ect. Tips and help welcome.

Hi and Welcome,

Withdrawals are never fun, that's for sure, but you can get through this.

You should be able to find a sponsor at an NA meeting.

Welcome Sham...the first few days of withdrawal from any substance are usually pretty uncomfortable. Do you have access to a local list of meetings if you are seeking a sponsor? There is most likely a number in the front of your local phonebook for the local chapsters of NA/AA etc.

Hi Sham

You have to visit a doctor first to check that you are OK to take them but I have heard Champion are pretty good at removing the urge to smoke - some side effects though

It should be a bit easier now as there are so few places that you can still smoke (at least in UK/USA/Europe)

Thanks everyone, smoked again so I've set my quit day next Wednesday . I have social anxiety and well really am too chicken shut to go to a meeting alone. I bought the na book and just for today. That's why I'm quitting next week. I will have the books as guidance. Thank all so much for your words 🙏

Hi all! So today is my day! One day a time! Said goodbye to my addiction last night! Woke up with goals. It won't be easy but it's worth it!

Congrats on day two!

Keep checking in often. Building some accountability to a support network has been a cornerstone of my recovery this time.

Exactly! I like coming on here, really enjoy others stories and the support is really awesome. I'm keeping the just for today in my head and when I feel like using I just keep repeating that to myself. I haven't felt very sick like the last time I quit so that is making it soooo much better. Still waiting for my books but I'm hanging in!
