Scared and paniking

hi I'm so worried I've done damage to my liver x I've drank heavily for a few years on and off x it may be a couple of cans a night or a bottle of wine x I have days off and didn't drink for 9 months 2 years back, just lately if I drink I get a full day hangover and feel terrible this happened couple of weeks ago and I haven't touched a drop since x I suffer panic attacks and anxiety and all I'm doing is thinking about it and making me panic worse x I have decided to turn my life around and am eating a healthy diet and have joined the gym x but every little muscle ache or pain in my right side and I'm thinking it's my liver x I'm at the dr next week due to my panic and anxiety so am going to speak about my drinking to x in a 40 year old female x bit over weight x

I think if you maintain the habits you have started as far as your diet and the gym you only stand to benefit.

Suzzi, I'm glad you're moving forward. There is nothing you can do about the past, but you can definitely make today a good one and continue to recover and work on good health.

Our bodies are pretty amazing machines and have a great ability to heal. Glad to hear you are seeing a doctor, hopefully that can put your mind at ease...I had a lot of anxiety issues early on myself.

It is scary - my liver enzymes were up and after three months of sobriety were back to normal. No more drinking for me -

Good news is that even if you did some damage, your doctor will be able to help guide you.
Be honest about how much you drink.

And by not picking up again, you give yourself and your liver a fighting chance.

Rock on and try not to worry too much. Stress can be a trigger.

I used to get this ache very often and it worried me. My bloods came back ok. After 3 months without a drink I rarely get any aches if any. Its hard not to worry about it, but given time it should fix itself with continued sobriety.

Take Care Suzie.

You'll be ok. Just get checked out at the doctor and don't drink anymore. If you have damage to your liver, it should heal itself if you stay away from the poison.

I've actually been drinking some veggie drinks made with my Ninja smoothie machine that are made with apple, carrot, beets, kale and ginger. All those things are blended together and called The Liver Scrubber! Haha. It tastes good! Loaded with vitamins.

Good luck in maintaining your sobriety! I am pretty sure everything will be fine as long as you continue to abstain from alcohol - although easier said than done, so I wish you all the best!

The liver is an amazing organ. Chances are, if you stay stopped, your liver will recover but IT TAKES TIME. Well done for stopping. Get to the doctor. A new life awaits you x
