Well that was awkward.
A guy I used to date many years ago just showed up at my house completely unannounced and completely loaded!! He looked rough.... missing many teeth, fly unbuttoned, dressed in rags, making little sense, smelling awful.
The only one happy to see him was my dog. My kids promptly left the room and I was like, "Wow I wish you'd called first."
That really solidified why I want to be sober. Yuck.

I was not much better, but I never actually knocked on people's doors. I would call exgirlfriends drunk from home while sitting in rags. In my drunken mind I was sure they wanted to catch up on things at 3am while their husbands slept next to them....

Yeah I felt bad for him. A real reminder of where alcoholism left unchecked can lead a person. He was all confused...... he was looking for a bag he brought with him all over the place when he was already wearing it around his shoulder? Telling stories that made no sense and laughing wildly at them. Talking about drugs when my kids were home..... even if they were in the next room they were definitely listening. I put a stop to that right away.
Sad.
I told him on his way out the door that if he wanted to catch up I would but only is he wasn't drinking.
