Back again like many

Yep its 3.30 am. Woke up on the couch again. My wife doesn't bother to wake me any more. I'm starting to think this will beat me. I am a strong person but this is exhausting. Can get til Friday swearing I will not drink then about 4 PM it's the best idea I've ever had.to get some beer. Just Friday and Saturday turned into Sunday as well. a case of beer isn't enough Any more. I go and get more Sunday at around 5. Last night 10 beers wasn't enough so I drank half a bottle of wine too. Moderation at it's worst. Everything you read everything you learn about this is true you just have to admit it and see it for what it is. This is a joke I have everything to loose it should be motivation enough. Why do people say you don't have a problem but l definitely drink too much. Support is zero.
That's enough for now. Hope you are all wining.

It's definitely something you can conquer. So many people are fighting this battle like you. Maybe you should make plans for Friday nights that don't involve drinking... Workout class or something you like to do? Keep your schedule full and tell enablers no. You don't even have to give a reason except that you don't feel like drinking....

Welcome Daz - I am recently "back again." Over the last few days I have gained a gratefulness for my willingness to come "back again." If I ever stop coming "back again", I am dead. As long as I come "back again", there is hope. Glad you are here.

You have to want to be sober more than you want to drink.

Hi daz, I'm also back, after swearing I'd never drink again two weeks ago! How embarrassing!

Welcome back Daz
If your support is zero that's a good place to start - beef it up

are you doing anything outside of posting here?

Welcome back!

This is about you, if you know you drink too much, quit for yourself and don't let people with their own questionable Alcoholic intake quantity tell you otherwise. ;-)

Rock on!!

Hi daz - it's so good to have you here.

I drank almost 30 yrs. I guess I always knew I didn't drink like others, but I refused to admit I had no control. I continued trying to moderate until my life was in shambles. As you said, it takes more & more to achieve the feeling of numbness. (We can't really say we're 'high' or having fun when we reach this stage.) Bad things had to happen for me to wake up. It's a wonderful feeling to get free. You can do it daz.

A lot of us have been there... It only starts to change when you commit to sobriety. You will be amazed how freeing this can be. I hope you come to this sooner than later. You can find the support here.

I think half the problem with being a strong person is that we find it hard to reach out and ask and accept help...

It is great that you are posting and reaching out, great job, it really does help talking about it..anyone or any place that you feel safe to share.

What about some F2F support or an addiction counsellor..SMART, AA meeting. Even if they do not end up being for you it gets you proactive and as they say "Where attention goes energy flows!"!!

AVRT, RR help me address my AV to stop continually relapsing. Have you tried it?

You are right relapsing is exhausting and for me kind of started me in a cycle of creating what I feared....take care.

I recommend looking into AVRT too. That, desire to stop drinking, and support from SR can be enough to start building a solid plan. I hope you find what works for you!

Hi Daz,

I am on day 13, after many failed attempts to stop. So I am on this journey with you. I will hit the 2 week mark tomorrow, I am really trying to focus on staying in the moment and enjoying the little things/deal with the stress a little at a time rather than letting it build.
We can do this!!
