Hello Everyone!!!
First of all, I just wanted to say thank you to whoever decided to read this. I have decided to end a long 10 year battle with cigarettes, alcohol, and marijuana. No tapering, cold turkey. I tried quitting all 3 at least 100 times 100 different ways and found the easiest to be giving up all 3 and looking the other way once and for all. I know it's only been 4 days and I'm sure I'll have my slip ups in the future, but I have never been more confident in my attitude towards sobriety this time. I'm finished with the foggy days, and ready to live like I did before I turned to the dark side in my Junior year in High School. I'm very grateful to have signed up for this website because I think there must be some very focused and friendly people on here who have a lot of great advice, so it would be amazing to meet some of you wonderful people and see what kind of journeys you have been through.
Thanks again for reading this and I wish all of you the best!!

Stories of Recovery - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
In recovery, living in recovery, incorporating
many useful tools and lots of knowledge
about addiction in our daily lives, there
should be no doubt that a slip would possibly
happen in the future.
Meaning that the future isn't here yet
and we have no idea what the future
holds for any of us. However, as long
as we stay in today and not drink or use
or act upon whatever addiction we may
have, then a slip or relapse doesn't need
to happen.
Each day filled with our daily work, our
daily lives, work, family and recovery
we needed be fear about slipping or
relapsing. Right?
Admitting we have an addiction to
alcohol or drugs, then accepting that
fact, then relying on something, whether
it be a program of recovery itself like
AA or NA or other, a belief or faith in
Something or Someone more greater
than us can help us, guide us, strengthen
us each day we are sober or clean.
The only way I along with many other
members who have learned to stay sober
or clean a day at a time was to learn. To be
taught about addiction and its affects on
us and others around us. To be given valuable
information to listen to, learn, absorb and
apply to all areas of our lives.
There were so many times I had tried to
stop drinking, vowed I wouldn't drink again,
to fail so many times until I admitted my
problem, accepted it and believed in a program
of recovery that so many have followed over
the years to help them remain sober or clean
no matter what.
You can do the same thing each day and
remove the thought of a possible slip up
sometime down the road.
JUST FOR TODAY is easy and affective.
