the grind into the big apple sober

Started work today after about a year off.The drive into the city well turns out to be a big trigger.50 or so days sober now, probably one of the few times I have made the commute in the last 20 years without a hangover white knuckeling it over a bridge or thru the midtown tunnel.Had some bad panic attacks over the years when I had to turn around and go home because the stress was overwhelming.Well this is a big step and just part of the recovery but more difficult than I thought it would be....Also muscles are hurting more than I ever remember.Have been working out for about 5 weeks now but the recovery seems to be much longer...feel every bit of 70..

Glad you're back to work. Millions of people make that same drive every year without drinking over it. You can do it too! Maybe get some relaxing audiobooks or meditations to listen to on the drive?

Please keep checking in. We're here for you.

exwell66 any anxiety I used to suffer from fell away when I got sober, maybe you'll experience the same thing? Do you have diversions for when you are driving?
