Stay Sober Weekender Thread until 6/1
Buenos dias. Welcome OCDdan. Patman, good to see you!
Off to Costa Rica this weekend. A quick flight from Guatemala City - San Jose early on Sunday, and then jumping on a little Twin Otter 300 from San Jose down to the Costa Rica-Panama border for 2 weeks of R&R. Beep beep!

I'm in this time. Haven't been on this bus in a while, but I'm hoping on. It's only Thursday morning and I have a busy couple of days ahead of me before my weekend starts, so might not be too active here. But I'm on the bus!!
I am going out of town to see my folks this upcoming weekend, which is always was huge trigger for me. Even though they don't drink....being around them makes me want to drown myself in wine. But I have been going to AA for the past week and have lots of numbers handy that I plan on using, so I'm going to get through it this time. And of course I have you guys
Big S - Your trips always make me so jealous!
Weasel - can't believe you have time to drive the bus while you're on vacation! But glad you're here.
Everyone else -- nice to "see" you!

Not raining at the moment. We are supposed to get storms later and on into the weekend.
The weather guy said that this rain pattern is going to start to change for the better next week! YAY!!! Summers in Texas are usually dry and very hot. I hope the dry part holds...the heat can stay away.
Just heard this is the wettest May on record.

Ken, thanks for starting the thread with the *Ring*Ring story. It is such a helpful one.
BigS, we used to jump out of Twin Otters. If I remember correctly they are STOLs - Short Takeoff and Landing planes. I'll bet they come in handy on Third World landing strips. Love the paint job. I spent a summer painting airplanes once. It was fun.
My day - hm. Maybe a drive up to a State Park on the water. Dunno yet. I don't have that have-to-stay-busy gene.

Hang in there OCDDan. You've got a lot going on right now.
Lola, good to see you here. Drowning yourself in wine? A little Lola marinade. Can you attend a meeting by your folks?
BigS, another fantastic adventure! What fun.
My mother saves little snippets of things because they interest her. One of them was people talking about their favorite childhood books and someone listed The Phantom Tollbooth. I read a lot as a kid and strangely, had never heard of it. Started reading it to my son last night and I really, really like it. Awesome! So if you're looking for a good read.

For reasons unfathomable to my Mortal Mind, Da Wife just suggested we take a drive up to Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Highest paved Road in the U.S.. It peaks out at ~12,000' Elevation. They try to plow it open by Memorial Day, and that didn't happen this year. See below a typical Snow depth up there. The Poles on either side of the Road are req'd so that the Roto Mill Snow Plow Drivers don't drive off the Road to a certain, screaming death. Roto Mills are these giant Fan-type Blades; like a giant Ventilation Fan seen at a Greenhouse. Powered by ~700 Horsepower Engines, they bite into Snow, and blow it vertical to Helen Gone.
Sooooo, I think it's a leisurely drive up into the Mountains elsewhere for Brunch. We'll see...
Pro House Inspection here is set for a week from tomorrow. That'll give us and the Buyers hard info on House condition, and allow them to put in their best Bids in confidence. Some sort of Open House is the Weekend after next. Should be exciting in this uber-hot Market where Bids above asking price are typical. I'm detached from all this. The Market will speak, and I don't second guess such dynamics. A gorgeous, Dog-friendly Yard should help, as should instant Occupancy being an option. Pros moved out most of our Guano some weeks ago.
There's more to Life than Money. As this 1987 Neighborhood flips from us original Owners, we plan to toss some Good Karma out into the Universe, and give a young Family a break. Plenty of such Families are getting outbid 3 or 5 times on Houses. We can toss our proverbial Pebble into the Ocean , and change that Karma some miniscule amount.
A lil Road Trip Music, Maestro...

Beautiful day here. Mods took a dip but doing the right things to get back on track. Cleaning the apartment today so things feel in order. Make it easier to remind myself that everything is just fine. Soberly fine.
Good to see you PP. buckle up!
Good to see new folks jumping on. Post how you are doing. If you need immediate help remember the main board gets the most eyes on it.

Everything is packed and ready to go …
Now i'm just sat waiting for a credit / income check for my rental property and then another reference for the time i've spent in-between jobs .
Seems such a normal thing for me to have a gap in employment i don't think of it but i guess it is unusual for most people .
I'm not sure if this uber-cautiousness is a warning that maybe i'm getting involved with an "uptight" corporation or not ..
I guess i have the skills and experience to get out of there if i want too , having waited 3 months it seems almost a point of principal to do the job for a bit now
I'm sure things will be fine however they play out …
