Stay Sober Weekender Thread until 6/1
My radio station is playing a variety of weather themed music this evening. It's making everyone a little squirrelly. This, I heard on the way home. Been a while for this one.
Verte, you should try the coconut LA Croix. Would Olive lead you astray?
BigS, have a safe journey. Della, so you're going to be a beach bum. Not bad.
Saoutchik, where will you run today?
Time for bed. After ice cream.

I didn't get hula girl.
Gives me a mission for some-other-time when I'm heading that way.
The beach walk was lovely. Too many people have found my beach though. I've been going there for 30 years and in the last few years people have really started showing up there. I blame iPhones - or at least MapQuest/apps. It's a really hard place to find, but 20 minutes from the city - luckily once they make the hike to the beach they don't usually come back. It's quite a hike
Today I tried to explain to a young couple at the top (who were already stressing on the semi-flat part) that the trail is steep and rocky and 2 miles long and their regular small-wheeled stroller was maybe gonna be tough. Some guy walked by as we were talking and said, "I looked at it on YouTube, you can take a stroller."
Okay, dude - hope he's there to help them carry it back up.

Hey, I've seen a lot of stroller drama on that hill
Once they get to the bottom, they can't even see the beach, because the tunnel under the rail line is flooded. Where's that guy to carry the stroller through the tunnel on his back?

Haha that must have been fun carrying a stroller up that. At least you tried to warn them =) It is unfortunate when secrete hide outs become popular. Looking at the picture I keep thinking TREES!! It's really dry where I live =( Beautiful picture.

Beautiful Bimini! What a great way to spend the day.
I saw the hula girl at Target today so they still have her.
I didn't realize that the Arc Angels singer was Charlie Sexton. I may have known that at one time. I remember the 85' song Beats So Lonely. But I was you tubing and found this which isn't deep or profound but I enjoyed and I'm not a big live video watcher. But David Bowie.

Good going ruby 18 months / a year and a half .
The inflation effect has happened now for me , when people tell me the price of alcohol i go
How did i ever afford it ? Truth was i lived a pay cheque to pay cheque existence .
I bought the spirit of sobriety to my finances only after i stopped gambling maybe 18 months into sobriety from drink.
The last 24 months has been so very much more relaxed and less pressured due to the finances easing the most i gamble these days are four lottery tickets a week = £8 and sometimes i forget to do that .
A lot of my gambling was powered by me wanting my life to somehow be other than it was , by quitting the struggle and accepting it just as it was today , finding a life to enjoy right in front of my eyes , such motivations have unwound themselves and have dropped by the by .
Sunday morning coffee
i hope everyone made it through , if not you get another go today .
Bestwishes, m

Morning all,
Trying to catch up with you all as I savour my morning coffee.
Wonderful pictures Bimini - I do love walking amongst the trees, the more ancient the better. They radiate raw nature and evolutionary time, a spiritual experience, for want of a better word.
Well done on 18 months Ruby. Savour your achievement. I have frequently observed the careful, thoughtful and compassionate support you offer to others on here.
So many other amazing posts! Thank yo all!
Had some chinese take away last night with my family. Everyone was drinking except me. My family all know about my non drinking now but the family narritive spins it as my drive to get healthy. I experienced a few cravings throuout, but I walked around a lot, made multiple cups of tea, riding the waves until they passed.
It's weird now being in my teenage attic bedroom that I shared with my older brother. Many an evening was spent here with friends smoking copious ammounts of drugs.
I can hear the local church bells ringing in the distant. I imagine the numbers of responders has dwindled even more.
Have a peaceful Sunday weekender friends.

Up with the Europeans and Zaboozer in S.A. this morning,,,,and I beat Weasel to the boards! Alas I woke up even earlier than anticipated with a stomach ache and headache. Some aspirin and coffee have turned things around.
Behan, it's always weird going home and sleeping in the room you slept in as a child, eh? Always seems so damn small. My mother actually moved to a new house when I was in my last year of high school, so when I go visit her it's never quite felt like "home" to me. I only lived there full-time for a year before blowing town for college. Too bad you have some memories of drugs there, but it's great you're back, sober, and with your new healthy life in full motion.
Mex, interesting that you held on to the gambling habit a bit longer but good to know you're cool at this point. In my case, I began to smoke marijuana immediately after giving up alcohol, and continued for almost a year after quitting drinking. That was a terrible idea, it held me back in so many areas of development. Wish I hadn't done that, but nobody's perfect and I think we can all give ourselves a break and chalk it up to a learning experience. The main thing is we're going in the right direction.
Congrats again on 18 months Ruby! That's one heckuva job.
Looking forward to checking in from Costa Rica in a couple hours. Adios for now.

Good morning team!
Good morning early bird BigS!
Cats are done and relaxing with my morning Monster energy drink.
Bad dreams lead to no so great morning moods that I need to shake.
I have a very big meeting at work Tuesday so I will sign into work today to clear out email and summaries resulting tasks so I can make a clean start to the work week. Part of not procrastinating makes me calmer to deal with new things that pop up.
hope everyone is doing well. How about we here from some of the new folks that joined earlier on Friday and Saturday morning?

Happy Sober Sunday Everyone!
Finally getting back to my pre-surgery sleep patterns. For some reason I haven't been sleeping that well since the surgery, but last night I slept like a log. What shall this refreshed day bring? Not sure yet. The sky is the limit when sober.

Good to hear Nons.
Reading all the posts from when I signed off last night is lifting the mood for me. Thank you!
What an incredibly interesting group we have wouldn't you agree.

PP... You are so right. You don't have to drink. Nothing or no one can make you. You have the complete power to do otherwise.

So glad this bus keeps full -- had a bit of a rough weekend with unusually strong cravings both Friday and Saturday evenings, but you guys surrounded me in the aisle and kept me from jumping off the bus--thank you! Much better this morning; you can take your seats and enjoy the rest of the ride. Thanks
