Damn hippie music

So I got my first AV. It has pass but it came up after watching sons of anarchy and they were playing some hippie music(very melo). Not the type of music you here on the show and not my talk of music in general. Just remember me of college and the few times I drank and listening to music with friends.

Some of the weirdest places can happen with AV.

I agree! I'm creeping up toward three years sober and not many things "trigger" me. But one of the few things that does make me crave a drink a bit is seeing an actor or actress I like drinking onscreen. I have no idea why but it does!

Turns out, we can enjoy all kinds of things sober.

Even hippie music.

I used to play that kind of music while in a band in my partying years. Seems that in sobriety I don't care for it much.

I lived in San Francisco in the 60's; hanging around the Haight Ashbury. I loved the music in the park (hippie hill), and loved spending my weekends at the Fillmore, Avalon, and Family Dog. My fave bands were the Grateful Dead, Santana, Moby Grape, Jefferson Airplane, the Doors, Janis, Jimi, CSNR, Procol Harum, and the Youngbloods....to name only a few..........and I still listen to and love their music.

I have always loved music and associated a lot of it with drinking. Looking back, it was really the culture and the people/events surrounding the music that held the allure of drinking. I'm much more able to enjoy music now that I'm sober actually, it's much easier to view it for what it really is...the musicianship, the skill, the lyrics.

What is this "hippie music" you speak of?..lol. I followed the Dead for a short time in my late teens/early twenties. I actually made it to a few shows totally sober. Those are some of my favorite memories. Because I was fully present.

An old song I used to play

"Running With The Devil"

now I hate what it stands for.
