Can't sleep
I can't sleep. I only got 1 hour last night and can't fall asleep tonight. I think I would feel much better if I could get a good nights sleep. Will somebody please knock me out. I guess it's because my mind won't shut down. I'm on day 4 of tapering off. Not a fun way to go. I am going straight to the doctors in the morning. I give up. Thought I could do it on my own but I can't. Sorry for the ramble. I just want to feel normal again. I hope everybody is having a better night than me.

What does "tapering" mean? What's your current consumption level?
Insomnia is pretty common during early sobriety, but it does pass with time. A doctor may be able to prescribe a mild sedative to help you sleep, but for the most part, you just have to give it time.
Sorry to hear you're having a rough night.

I think most of us have insomnia problems when withdrawing.
Tapering means you're not at the point yet where your body can reacquaint itself with normal sleeping yet.
Usually people see a difference in a few days, once drinking has stopped.
Seeing a Dr is a really good idea

Insomnia is pretty common early on, but I think your decision to see a doctor is a very good one. Tapering is difficult and postponing the inevitable for most of us. Hope you can get some rest tonight.

Good luck at the doctor's office. Sleep has long been an issue for me, even before I drank. I did read that insomnia is a cause of many relapses, been there!
Drinking does get you to sleep but it's poor quality sleep and really doesn't benefit a person, plus hangovers...

It general takes me 5 days to get somewhat of a 4 to 6 hours of sleep. But you said tapping off which you have not stop yet completely so I don't how long you will get a good night sleep. Good for you to see a doctor.
