Holiday weekend

went to the in-laws lake cabin, a bunch of young relatives and their friends drinking, My brother in law who wouldn't take I'm not drinking today for an answer and kept offering a beer or a shot or a glass of wine to my wife, after about the 6th time of waving a drink in front of me I said I was really tired and we had a long drive in front of us and we left early. I didn't want to get mad but that sure put a damper on my day, sorry we went out there, would have stayed for the afternoon and a swim, well got out of there sober and no hang over today, hope everyone else had a nice weekend.

You handled it well Zep, that was a pretty strong test. Nice going. I hope the rest of your holiday is better.

Sorry you had a bad day -- that would have made me mad!

Treat yourself & the wife well today. Sometimes when I've just really been tested, it's the next day when I feel most like giving in. Do something nice instead!

G**Da** the pusher man.

That was just wrong on his part. I hope you enjoy a more productive and peaceful day today.

People. They can really be something.

I avoid drinking situations still or do them in small doses. To me they just aren't worth it. I'm not worried about drinking but they make me feel uncomfortable so why would I go to something I don't enjoy.

Sobriety for me has taught me my old life was not working for me so I had to create a new one. A life filled with fun non drinking activities

That's really encouraging Zepp. I'm going to be faced with more than one challenge like that this summer and not looking forward to dealing with it.

I had a similar situation at a graduation party last night. Hostess just wouldn't take no for an answer. She is a full blown alcoholic who would show up at school functions drunk.

As soon as I saw an exit point, out I went. Just left.

Said to hubby - I'm just wayyyyyy to sober for this party.

Hostess was so bombed there's no way she would remember if I was there or not.

Gotta protect.

PS - if I was a betting man, I'd bet that my morning this morning is slightly better then hers...

Hopefully he makes the connection about you leaving and doesn't try that again. Probably not though.
