I am starting to get the point of sobriety
I am on a long weekend in the mountains with friends this weekend they were all drinking today so I took a fishing rod and caught fish. My luck finding fish as a drunk was horrible today my first fish was on the 3rd cast. I don't want to sound like a holy person which I haven't been, but that said it was like a sign that you don't need it. They were all drinking and sitting around being lazy while was catching fish left and right. I had fun today with friends without drinking. They weren't having as much fun as I was and I was sober. I'm finally starting to see the point of being sober. Also I was up before all the hungover motley crew so I cooked a delicious breakfast for everyone. Then they started with beers at about noon. We went to get groceries and in the beer isle I felt like my ex girlfriend just showed up, awkward. Got home jumped on the quad and tore ass outta the cabin. Came back everyone was just sitting there. So I start telling people to get up let's do something. We set up some outdoor games and drunk people aren't very good competition so that was gratifying And fun. Had a late lunch and wached bald eagles through binoculars which was amazing. There were like 5 of them. Then back out on the quads. Came back had dinner which they cooked it was mehh, could have been better. Then watched playoff hockey game, AV was chiming in all day especially after dinner so I went and made the bon fire. made a bad arse fire and played the Pyromaniac instead of getting drunk. I wouldn't of had this much fun if I drank today. I wouldn't have gone fishing, cooked, watched bald eagles, felt good, woke up before noon, and I would have spent more money not doing these things. Now I am starting to see some good coming from not being drunk. I have definitely had temptations I mean there's a hundred liquor bottles 15 feet from my bed but I know I can't have one. This week end was very worrying for me but I got it in the bag. I really think boos would have hindered my fun this weekend as opposed to enhancing it. Thanks for all the good support going into this I posted on here a few times before the trip one guy told me " I would avoid a three day weekend with drinkers like the plague" I thought that was a little extreme. I really think this forum has helped me though at the least through this trip. And I can't thank you enough for that
I'm glad you're having a good time sober Kernal.
You know...everyones different man.
I couldn't do what you've done so early in your recovery.
Noone's better or worse - just different.
Some people can be around old situations and be fine, some can't.
Some will be ok one day and not the next time...
some will get through a tough situation and then drink when it's all over....
As long as you keep your guard up, and remember that any idea to drink is a bad one, you'll be ok

There. Fixed it for you.
I have found that being around drunks is pretty boring in sobriety. Carrying on a conversation with my drunk neighbor is so very disappointing. A while back he told me that, "he preferred me better when I was drinking." My wife in no way agrees with him.

Congratulations on staying the course! You really got this!!
I've been in 1similar situation since I've quit 50 some days ago but I always think to myself it's not just going to be one innocent drink to fit in with the gang it'll be months of agony from even just having 1 single sip! So not even worth it!
