I slip again (Day 3)

Having been on here for sometime now. I was doing so good. Staying out of trouble not drinking over 4 months but last Saturday, I went out with a friend and got really drunk I stop drinking Wednesday and now I'm recovering from all the alcohol I consume. I stop drinking Wednesday so I'm haven't drink for 3 days now.

I'm kicking myself for drinking so much but it's over now and now I'm focusing on my sobriety. I'm a binge drinker I will not stop until about 4 to 5 days of drinking and the only time I stop when I can't take it anymore and drinking it not giving me what I need anymore.

I'm having that I didn't drink for 4 months but wish I did start drinking but now that's the pass and now I need to focus on today.

Hi ACT10Npack!

Congratulations on three days!

Why not try using the support of SoberRecovery a bit more? Check in with the "24-Hour Recovery Connections" or post on the "Class of May 2015" thread?

Glad you have stopped and come back. Perhaps you could look back and see why you thought it would be OK to go out drinking with your friend. Most times when we return to drinking, the thoughts start well before the actual drinking. Were you still working a plan if some kind at the time?

I was getting lazy and not doing what I need to do. Looking for a new job. The only thing I did was hit the gym and watch what I eat. I need to get myself busy with work again.

Hi.

Stopping drinking and being in recovery are different things. Recovery is staying sober and WORKIN ON CHANGES in our lives. In AA it’s using the 12 steps as our guide.

Recovery also requires us to be honest with ourselves about our drinking and accepting we cannot drink in safety. It also requires us to WANT to be sober and is at the top of our to do list on a daily basis.

A tall order? Yes but the rewards can be outstanding if we let them.

BE WELL

I think finding things to do is only part of the solution act10npack.
You need a recovery plan too.

There are some great ideas here

I've done this one. After awhile you think "Hey I've got my **** together."

It's a lack of humility. Of which no one here is more guilty than me.

Back to square one, but with more experience, bitter thouggh it may be.

You got this.

booze -- the deceiver of my heart and soul

Sure glad that you are back on the sober road. I have had friends who were sober and then went back to the drink in a heavy way who died with a bottle in their hand. It truly happens to some. Please, be careful and we should do our best daily to remember that, running with the liquid devil is not best for us. Why would we want what is not best ? Seems like such a simple question. Yet, the drunk in me has always been a deceiver of my heart and soul.

You are starting again, your not back to square one. You have four sober months behind you, mould from all of the things that helped you during that time and use them to help you start again. You can do this!!!

Glad you made it back in here, ACT10Npack. There's a lot of great advice in this thread re: what your next step should be. Hope you heed some of it and take some action. Remember that you never have to feel this way again. It's quite liberating.
