thoughts on nonalcoholic beers
and btw, I have never been triggered to have a real beer. I believe those who have been are just self-fulfilling prophesies.
It might be OK for you - I still think it's a bad idea in general for newcomers.

I guess I can be the one lone voice crying out in the wilderness. Yes, from time I've been known to have an NA Malt beverage.
My preferred libations are French Market Coffee, Constant Comment Tea, milk, Coke, Pepsi, and Orange Crush, but I'll have a NA from time to time, too (this, going back to my first weeks of sobriety/recovery.....and many of my recovered friends do the same.

Like I said, I believe folks believe leads to the real deal, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.

I'd never heard of SR or read any recovery literature so, as I said before, the idea of a self fulfilling prophecy simply doesn't apply for me.
I don't drink NA beer anymore because it looked like beer, felt like a can of beer, it smelt like beer, it had that same condensation thing on the can like a beer, the same fizz and foam when you pop the can, tasted like beer (kinda)....
The only thing missing was the buzz.
Then I'd wonder why I'd go out everytime and get 'real' beer.
I was still knee deep in old behaviours, and didn't even realise it.
As a former beer drinker I know it ticks all the boxes for me, and opens the door to old behaviour and old thought patterns.
That's why I think it's dangerous for newcomers - and I think we all need to be especially mindful of that in this Newcomers Forum.
