Huh..I can't believe how much I paid either. At every level imaginable.
I'm one month sober and absolutely excited about it. Life is sooo much better already.
Glad you're hear. Stop by often.
You should join the Class of May. Real fine bunch of people of there who all decided enough is enough. Top class people. Almost right up there with my roomies in April

Hey there Kezi! Welcome to SR. This forum has been a very vital part of my early recovery. Jump right in and post often please! And I second InControl's suggestion that you join us on the Class of May 2015. It's a good way to bond with some folks who are also newly sober.
Hi Kezi, welcome!
Surround yourself with people with the same motives as yours - it makes the journey much easier to have support. I personally find it easier to only deal with not drinking now or today. I am just waking up with my first cup of coffee and appreciate the reminder you give how important it is to commit to sobriety every day. Today is another great day to be sober, and its nice to have your company in the journey!

For me forever seems like an awfully long time although my goal is to never drink again. To keep my eye on the prize I focus on today. Today I will do all the things that I do every day that have kept me sober this far
I think closing that door and wiping out any reservations about ever drinking again is critical to lasting recovery. Not everyone comes in that way, but at some point it has to be squashed. I found it much easier to take alcohol OFF the table as an option, under any and all circumstances. No "well, maybe a sip at my kids' weddings" or "maybe if I'm diagnosed with a terminal illness" or "maybe if I win the lottery." I just don't drink, period. Like MiR, I try to keep my focus on today, but it helps me to have that baseline "never again" in the back of my head at all times.
