Ate late tonight. And it was really hard for a couple hours there. Cravings came strong like clockwork. Didn't get away from them until my belly was full. Note to self...hunger not allowed between 6-8pm. Feeling relaxed now with a sense of accomplishment across the board.

It's becoming obvious that cravings will take longer than I'd hoped to back off. At least subside from 8/10 rating anyways. Maybe 3 weeks?

Eat eat eat! I treated my worst cravings with ice cream floats.

Hi all - will have to catch up in the morning. Another great Sober Saturday. Took a drive and walked through some sugar cane fields. Went swimming in the Pacific. It rained. I drove home and looked out the window at some enjoyable scenery. Sadly, a bridge flooded and I had to take a crazy round-about way home, and I was almost there when my fan belt broke. Rats. Luckily I found a mechanic, he also owns a taco shop so I had some tacos and waited for him to arrange the labor/parts etc. I'll probably have it back before noon tomorrow. Sure hope so. Didn't ruin my day or throw me off course, though. Still had fun. In your face, car trouble!

Lovely, BigS! I hope you're up and running soon.

Like Brynn, I too am married to an alcoholic who is still drinking, though not around me. I'm vouching for the fact that you can get sober around an active drinker.

Kids are in bed. My Gain scented laundry is exhausting its fumes through the dryer vent underneath me on the back porch. The house is hot but it's wonderfully cool out on the porch. Bliss. I'm going to bed soon enough as I wish to attend an 8 a.m. AA meeting and see my face to face sober buddies. Then perhaps, if it's not raining, I will dig in the garden.

Good morning Melki and ZaBoozer!

Zaboozer, are there many 'Lawn Chickens' roaming your neighborhood?

Good morning all,

I hope everyone is doing ok.

Mrs B and I took in a comedy show in a 120 year old opera house. We sat in the gods-You could feel this history and tradition in the place.

Drove home through a drunken saturday night: bars packed, people on the streets, taxi, and armoured police vans on patrol. As I drove my mind became preoccupied with a single thought:

You are boring now.

This grew, evolved and escalated to how only alcohol would make me interesting again. I phantasised about maybe having one or two in a years time. As I neared home, I noticed a young man wondering down the street in a state of intoxication, looking forlorn.

I realise these thoughts were my monkey brain, cued by the environs, screaming to be fed. But I resisted feeding the monkey.

Well, rant over!

I hope everyone is keeping well.

B

Morning Zab, Melki, Behan.

Great photos BigS what an amazing place to live

Well done for ignoring your AV Behan

I have been jogging alongside the river Lea this morning which is new territory to me. (actually it's more walking here as the towpath is narrow and uneven)

Congrats on 1000 posts Sao!

I watched point giving in Eurovision last night! No surprises there! What a cheesy song from Sweden!

Behan ,
It sup prises me that our AV tells us such a lie as that we are boring when we are sober …
have you seen drunk people slurring their words, being repetitive trading stories of woe ?
Sobriety means i can be witty , avoid trouble and fracas , drive home in warmth and comfort , not loose my wallet in KFC , i can go to comedy events or music shows remember all of it and the main event is the main event, not an aside to drinking .

If you want fun and excitement then do something different , abseil , run a marathon , sell car boot finds on e-bay , learn to act and appear in a play , sing , play the guitar or learn drums and put on a show , learn to paint masterpieces , write and perform a stand up show, make furniture like Non in the workshop, restore a car like saoutchik .

Drinking is boring, going out stumbling round pubs is terminally dull, become creative rather than one of those who are there to spectate, you can do it

Take care , m

I'm in. I'm late, Sunday night here.

A friend called me Friday night to say 'enough is enough, you have disappeared off the face of the earth since you stopped drinking and I'm worried about you. When are you gonna quit this no drinking business .. You're taking it a bit too far'.

I had to stop and think and I said , yeah you're right I've been happy doing my own thing. I started to play the tape, get ready, book a taxi, hit the bars, start chatting in that maniac boozy way, hit another bar etc etc..'

Yeah...nah.

She's still worried about me.

These are strange days indeed.

I am off to the gym. I have a vacation fitness goal of 20k steps a day.

Then I am taking the boat over to Peaks Island to walk the perimeter. So beautiful. I will take pictures and bring you all with me. No cell service really but will catch up upon return.

Have a wonderful sober Sunday!

You all rock!!!
