Took a chance, but prevailed
Went to see some friends yesterday night just to chill. The message was simply "what you got up? might have some people over for beers if you wanna come".
I said I'm down and asked what time.
Before I went I grabbed me a red bull (kinda needed to be alert anyways since it was kinda late and I had been up all day doing stuff).
I had already made up my mind that I wasn't gonna drink. I just told them that I had to get back home and had stuff to do tomorrow so not tonight. That's all that really needed to be said.
I think it was a good thing considering the fact that I tested the waters with a situation like that and was able to make the right decision. 9/10 I woulda been the person bringing alcohol over.
Just wanted to share.
Thanks for the guidance and support.

Nice!
I think it's good to do little things like that to prove to yourself you still can.
It's not always a great idea, depending on the situation, but it's not like we can all sit inside, alone for the rest of our lives.
Good for you!

Thanks everyone. I know putting myself in that position was not the smartest of things to do. But I felt that come away from that situation helped me realize that adapting to a sober life in a world where drinking is a staple is hard but not impossible.
