just wanted to say hi

I'm not sure, but think it was around 3 years ago since I haven't drank every day, but I guess I logged in a few times by the looks of it (of course i don't remember) I hope everyone is doing well. I stopped drinking alcohol 15 days ago, I hope to never drink it again because I've been going really crazy black out messed up. you guys are the only people i know that don't drink so i thought I'd read up and learn something.

Good to see you back OCDDan. No drinks for 15 days is great. You can make it permanent. There's nothing in it for us - nothing but misery, anxiety, and danger. Keep a good thing going Dan.

yes, permanent is the plan, I finally proved it to myself (and a lot of other people) that i can't handle it, maybe for a day a week or a year, but it would end poorly.

Thanks Anna, Hevyn, Impurrfect, MariahGayle, and melki , it's good to know there's someone out there sober who cares. I've been getting some real professional help that has been unbelievable, I wish I could have gotten that help 45 years ago, but the doc says I'm still fit so I count my blessings.. the doc also said only about 20% of alcoholics die from liver cancer or whatever it is, the rest usually die accidentally, I'm not sure how accurate that is, but possibly close

Well then, it's a good thing you've made the decision to stop drinking so you don't have to worry about dying an alcoholic death!

Well done on 15 days and counting! Being sober for the rest of your life is totally doable and very desirable! Glad you're here!

Hi Dan. Yeah that maybe I can control it - I think most of us have been there.

Glad you're here and sober

Thanks brynn, it's good to be here, now watch, i'll get run over by an alcoholic. seriously tho, what is working for me is a lot of exersice, like ten to forty mile bike rides, a real shrink, volunteering and caring about other people.

"You guys are the only people I know who don't drink..."

Welcome back to SR. Conscious. Sober. Thanks for giving me a smile. This snippet above was true for me as well when I came here! SR has definitely been a port in a storm, I tell you. Good for you for being here.

It's good to hear from you too and it's good to be back, like I was mentioning to someone else, it was really hard to look at some of my old posts and private messages, it's a good reminder why not to go back to substances for a quick thrill. Maybe my turmoil has caused you to think of me, it was horrific at best and takes me to my knees many times per day.

(that's pretty special knowing i actually crossed someone's mind after all this time, thanks)
