I was talking to my closest friend a few hours ago. He was asking why I don't text him as often as I used to. He knows what I am going through and I told him that it seems that when I am sober, I am a really boring person. So, he tells me that I did what I had to do and that I would really be a boring person if I were dead.

Just thought I would share that. It hit me like a ton of bricks and I keep thinking about.

Thanks for sharing this LiberatedStorm. I agree that he does sound like a good friend and good friends in a lifetime are worth beyond their weight in gold.

After I stopped drinking I could not bring myself to call one of my very best friends. In my mind I just could not get past the "I stopped drinking" part of the conversation so I avoided it altogether. When we finally talked on the phone after months and months of silence, I uttered "I stopped drinking". Her response was, "I figured as much." "Really? How did you know," I asked. "Well, I stopped getting crazy texts in the middle of the night." And then our friendship carried on as usual.
