Treatment accepted, need some advice.

Hey all, I was able to get myself into an inpatient rehab, but only concern is it is with the navy and if you show up with a bac over .02 you are kicked out. I'm having withdrawals and I am scheduled to check in this Wednesday morning. Any tips on what I should do to minimize the withdrawals but not show up intoxicated? I have the shakes, the sweats, and those horrifying nightmares that we all remember. Any advice is more than appreciated

Not sure on the time zones, but thats a couple of days away right?

If you're concerned about withdrawal but don't want to drink anymore, see a Dr. be safe.

Thanks dee!, unfortunately I don't have that luxury. I have heard that drinking tons of Gatorade and eating sweets helps the withdrawals?

Detox can be dangerous.

the last time I tried detoxing myself I ended up with mini strokes, so the only advice you're going to get from me is see a Dr - why is that not an option for you?

The only scary withdrawal effects I have right now is as soon as I fall asleep i wake up gasping for air and my head throbs, but your right i could always go to the er if it gets too bad. Ive only got one day til i get in treatment and i can finally get a hold of this disease. I am very excited

Best to see a Navy doctor ASAP. If your Navy doctor prescribes something for you to lessen the withdrawals, it should be ok with the treatment center. From seeing ones in Navy Programs in the past I must say, don't try pulling any fast ones or you will be out fast.

Yeah, I'd have that as an option.

The best I can do for you is direct you here - it's a thread about other members detox experiences.

If you're going to taper, I'm sorry but it never worked for me.

I have no advice about how to taper safely yet remain under the limit..
Control was never my forte.

best wishes tho - keep us updated

Take the help from a doctor and tell your doctor everything you feel, don't hide anything. I am sure that everything will be fine.
