Hi all, this is day 1 for me.

I‘m an alcoholic and I‘m just getting progressively worse and if I don‘t stop it's going to kill me. I can‘t believe that this is me but it is and I have to face it.

When I'm not drinking I'm thinking about drinking and I am so sick of it. It has taken over my life and I have pushed every friend I have away so I can sit home alone and drink. I'm scared and sometimes I feel like just giving up and ending it all but I couldn't do that to my family.

So, I know I have to do this and focus on recovery. I‘ve been reading the forum and it is great to have this support.

I couldn't believe it either, when my life became all about drinking. Like you, I gave up friends and activities just so I had time to be by myself and drink. Know for sure that you can do this. There is hope and you will find lots of support here.

Thanks so much for all your messages, it really helps.

Day 2 and I'm home from work and settled so I know I'm OK tonight. My time to buy alcohol was always on the way home from work. I would have debates with myself on and off for a couple of hours before and then before I knew it I would be buying vodka (sometimes beer or wine - not the most fussy drinker :-)). Tonight I went to the shop and bought chocolate and crisps. Not the best for me but I'll concentrate on being sober for now.

Today was OK but I know that I'll be really tested as more days pass so I have to be prepared.

I'm trying to think about the life I can have if I stay strong and I'm reading all I can SR, it really helps.
