Funny how we are all just relaxing and enjoying the time this weekend. I certainly don't miss that restless rush to get drunk and feel nothing...

You're right, Trees...it's nice that the restless rush is gone. And with it, drama, anxiety, misery. Much nicer to enjoy a relaxing evening.

Just home from work... Not going to lie, a beer would be great right now. If only I could stop at one!

instead I'm having some ice cream and heading to bed... Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Morning all,

Just checking in. Woke of to a very toasty house. This fireplace is the bees knees. It is still burning. Just a top up of some anthracite coal (clean burning) and she is on here way. Winter is going to be great this side. I tried to post a picture from my iPad, but it keeps telling me the image is too big.

Something to get your body moving this morning:

Be safe and be strong,

Cheers

Morning, I hope you get to feel better today Ruby.

My boss is coming round at 10 o'clock, ostensibly because we are going to a Trade Fair near me. I'm sure he wants to talk about something else though. It's funny that I've known him for over 20 years and yet in some ways I still don't know him that we'll.

Selma was a great film I thought, very moving

Great work Lily!

Trees ... Yes it is nice. The weather fiannly is great here in Maine so I have been out and about. I checkin on my phone but don't post as much. But I hear you all!

No gym today. Day off.

Miss Olive..... Nice work on your steps. You crushed that step goal! Sadly today is the day I have to take you down. With no gym I will earn my steps today the old fashioned way!

The trees are just getting their leaves here and things are getting green. I suspect it has been green for some time in other parts of SR. land.

Going to detail the car. Go to the beach I think! I just don't know. Sober days offer so much! I hope everyone who started is experiencing the thrill of being sober. I does not leave me.

Oh yeah! Bacon is cooking!

Ken

Sunday checkin for new folks!

How are you doing? What's going well? What's not? What was the biggest challenge you faced?

My brother from another mother.

Speaking of which - Happy Mother's Day to all of the mama's with us this weekend!

I woke up sore this morning. Lots of bending, stooping, and lifting yesterday. I need some bacon-flavored breakfast motrin.

Short story: I needed some new work gloves for yard work. (See last week's post about removing puppy piles from the work area before cutting down a tree.) I have been using the same style of work gloves for 30+ years. Simple - leather w/ some canvas on the back for breathability. I couldn't find any of these at the Home Depot yesterday. Instead they had this huge array of new-fangled space-age neoprene/polymer/resin/whatever things that looked more like motocross gloves than yard work gloves. I sneered derisively and bought a pair. I needed gloves.

I love them.

Beyond Bacon

I thawed two small pork chops yesterday to cook for dinner but they fed me at the golf tournament I worked.

That's what's for breakfast. Pork chops and eggs.

Back to Bacon

I finally found a local source for the pan I've been looking for...for baking bacon. It's a disposable aluminum roasting pan with an aluminum lid to contain the grease. Why waste bacon grease on the oven walls?

Good morning gang. I guess I'll try some of those funny looking gloves. I've been making do with my ratty old ones. As the birthdays stack up, my hands are beginning to look like my dad's did. Sorry about you bacon situation Della....this too shall pass.

I ate lots of good sweet stuff during the visit with my sweet mom yesterday, so off to the gym for me. Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone who is or has a mother.

Had a lovely time with my children their spouses and my grandson yesterday. S lives on a pond full of ducks and geese and other wildlife. We fed some geese and threw rocks, shot some baskets and watched a little baseball, then had grilled pork products and a homemade rhubarb crisp with ice cream. I believe it was the best Mother's Day I've ever had. Relaxed and calm and full of love. DIL and I drank Arnold palmers, there was some beer and a little wine consumed by the other adults, but no drunken debacles. Life is good.

Life is good Bernie! Sounds like a good time was had by all.

I'm heading to an 8 a.m. meeting today and will see you all later. Rainy day here. Nice for the plants.

My son just made me a special mothers' day breakfast, with 2 perfectly crisp pieces of bacon and 3 eggs scrambled with cheese and bacon bits, plus coffee and a glass of diet cream soda. I think I'll keep him!
