Shut up!!!
I am diffusing the power of my AV by telling it to SHUT UP!!! It's been trying to get me to drink on and off since 1:30 pm today. I've also had 1 huge craving and 1 that was a little less intense.
I am NOT drinking today and these are my reasons:
1. I will drink and drive and risk getting another DUI
2. I will hurt my kids and husband
3. I will hurt myself and my health
4. I've gained weight since my relapse last year and will gain more
5. I have spent thousands since my relapse on POISON!
6. I feel suicidal when I drink
7. I get tons of anxiety and depression
8. I lie
9. I usually vomit at the end of the night
10. I avoid my responsibilities
11. I can't look in the mirror
12. I sit in a bar alone like a loser
13. I chain smoke when I drink and can't breathe the next day
14. I hate myself when I drink
15. I get paranoid
16. I feel hopeless
17. I have no future when I drink
18. I have waisted too many days already!
19. The list goes on and on....SOUNDS FUN, right? :-( NOT!
Ok, that worked...my Addictive Voice shut up for a minute! I will NOT drink today!!!

Wow. Serinidad. Those are powerful reasons. Any one of them. Read them again the next time you are feeling weak. In the meantime, congratulations for doing the right thing. Keep up the good work.

Hi Serenidad you are right! I am there with you, all I want is a beer today and then I think of all the health and life consequences, and really- how much longer can this go on?
So glad you reached out, we are on your side

Isn't it amazing how powerful addiction is? Despite all the pain and misery...our brains still tell us that drinking would be a good idea! Crazy!
The last time I road a roller coaster I got soooo sick and almost vomited from motion sickness. I have NOT been on a roller coaster since because I remember how sick I got!
Why do I easily remember how sick I got on a roller coaster 7 years ago and not how sick I got from drinking alcohol last month??? Insane!

This from your post last week:
I just want my life back. SOBRIETY DATE: April 30, 2015
There is is. No going back. No discussions with your AV, no reasoning with it. You've quit drinking, and that's that. Any thoughts of drinking is the insanity of alcoholism and should be dismissed as such. You don't listen to a crazy person; you don't listen to your AV.

those are all good reasons....FOR YOU. to your AV they don't mean doodly squat.
There is only one true answer to give when the voices fire up - NO. you can modify this as needed...Nope, Uh Uh, Nyet, Hell No, **** No. do not argue or engage in debate with the voices. do not allow them to hang around.
Drinking is NOT an option. PERIOD.

I ended up biking 4 miles outside on the bike path at the park and eating dinner. Now I'm getting ready to read a book and relax. Thank God I didn't listen to my AV and drink. I would have deeply regretted it. I really appreciate the support. Another 24 hours down. Praise God.
Soberwolf...yes! I WILL have 5 years again and we will BOTH be here helping people. :-) Thanks for the kind words.
