Well I'm sitting here and getting ready to leave pretty soon. If I didn't have my plan, I definitely would have ordered a drink. I just stared at the waiter and almost ordered a cocktail when I ordered a coke as I had practiced saying in my head over and over again. It's going pretty well and one of my other coworkers also doesn't drink. He is tonight but even made a comment that he wasn't sure why because he doesn't like to drink. It put me at ease, especially as everyone else here seems to really enjoy drinking. I guess the non-drinkers skipped the event. All in all, not the worst way to spend an evening

I'm on the train now I decided to head out when I saw some eyes starting to gloss over and by then there were enough people coming and going I was hardly noticed. No one else really commented on the fact that I wasn't drinking, though it is openly known now that I'm just not a drinker. I thought people would find it so strange that I don't drink but no one did or if they did, they didn't comment on it. Glad to be going home sober Thanks everyone again for the support and advice! You guys are the best

Excellent, excellent! Or in the words of Lawrence Welk, "Wunnerful, wunnerful.". I'm very happy for you and I hope that this experience makes the lead up to the next such work gathering much less stressful and gives you extra confidence that you can deal with it.

Thank you thank you everyone!! As much as drinking would have felt "good" in the moment, this sense of accomplishment and VICTORY (I'm so happy I wish I could shout it but I'm in the quiet car lol) feels SO much better! I couldn't have done it without you all!!
