Thanks, its just crazy -spend all day on here reading threads and convincing myself not to drink today and then that little voice inside starts telling me that I could just have a few.
Breaking it down into half hour slots now.
Really hope I can come back and look at this thread tomorrow and further in the future and be proud of myself.

Hi Laska nice to meet you! It can be very scary, but you'll find a lot of support and advice here. It can feel scary because it is a whole new journey, but it's exciting to be able to start a new sober life and learn who you are sober We are all here for you!

Thank you Kafkaesque.
I am so glad I found this place and updating this thread (even if I am mainly talking to myself - lol) is helping me more than anything right now. Just need to make it through the night. Doubt I will sleep but at least I can keep coming here.

Laska - we're so glad to have you with us. Congratulations on wanting a better life - some never see what alcohol is doing to them.
You have every reason to be proud of yourself. After the first few days things will get so much easier. We promise you won't always feel this anxious.

Lol! Updating your thread is great! When I first made the decision to get sober, I spent most of the day on SR just reading and writing. It fills the time when you're struggling to get through the day and teaches you ways to be happy being sober Definitely keep coming here, someone is always here to listen and talk to! I wouldn't have made it a day without SR and all the great people on here

Its 3pm on Day 2 and Im still sober.
went to bed at 3am, managed to get some strange feverish sleep by around 6.30am and got back up at nine.
Been shaking, sweating and have a headache but I wont be drinking today, Im going to ride this wave all through day 2 and before I know it day 3 will be here

You only have to do this once!
In a weird masochistic way I enjoyed the weird scary and strange feelings of the first few days - it made it all the more real and felt like I was really achieving something, if that makes sense.
