I'm glad you posted Jeff - I don't think you need smacks tho - just encouragement and understanding.

Have you got a home gym or something? Exercise really helps pull me out of a funk?

Maybe try some stand-up comedy. What's your flavour?

We have Russell Peters -- young, hip, fresh, and pretty funny IMO.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlRmUzEatFw

Then we have Jim Jefferies, same age bracket, but a little more crude (and a lot more swearing). Also highly recommended though.

Or we can go with classic George Carlin (no description needed).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2NSBxKAuDA

All 3 are at least an hour long, so hopefully one of them cheers you up a bit. ((hug))

EDIT: I forgot fluffy! How could I forget him? The young, really fat Mexican guy. Funny as heck.

Had to sell my home gym, arthritis in my neck, back and shoulders. But I do have a treadmill and love it.

One of the most important companions for me when I'm in a funk is to remind myself that it won't last forever. It's a temporary condition, a break, so to say, from our more preferred mood states. When I do this, I'm often able to learn from the experience. The reminder is now automatic for me, and helps me to sit with my sadness.

It also helps to remind myself that people care, even when I'm not in contact with them during those darker moments.

I know I've said this before Jeff, but start making a plan to stay sober for next weekend now.

read through this about recovery plans

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...at-we-did.html

You won't know yourself with a few sober weekends behind you, honestly.

Jeff, you deserve better. I know it doesn't seem possible but after some sober time, stress is much easier to deal with sober than drunk.

Most of us here with any sober time under their belt never thought that a life of not drinking was possible. I know I didn't, until I found SR. Took me many day 1's and lot of commitment, but there is nothing better than enjoying life sober... the ups and downs.

You have the strength to make this change for you. We are here when ever you need help getting out of a funk. Next time let us try before you start drinking. We can help.

Hi Everyone, thank you for your responses. I would have stuck around longer last night but the wife put her foot down and I had to go to bed. Probably a good thing. Have a great day.

Drinking always put me back into a vicious cycle of feeling depressed and hating myself. I hope you're having a better day today and that you're making today day 1.

Good morning, Jeff; sorry to hear that things went south last night.

Have you tried meditation as a stress reliever?
