Hi, new but not new

Hi all, i'm using an alias name as i like to be anon. I'm Harry, i'm an addict, i'm 31 years old. I have had problems with mostly alcohol from around the age of 19. The past 10 years have been a roller coaster 'excuse the cliche', unfortunetly this rollercoaster has had a few more dips than highs.

I'm unaware of where to turn at the moment. I have been to about 60 AA/NA meetings over the past 9 years, i have also had a few short stays in rehab such as 5 day stays.

I'm just abit frustrated and also tired, i have gone through periods of keeping myself clean for 1 week, then using 2,3 times a week, rinse and repeat. I'm trying to get sober again but i lack confidence to even go to a meeting at the moment. Just part of my story, sorry if i come accross selfish and thanks for listening.

Hi Harry and welcome!

You don't come across as selfish at all! When I found SR I was on a roller coaster that mainly dipped too, so I hear your frustration and exhaustion. People here have used all sorts of methods to get and stay sober. If you've tried AA in the past but are uncomfortable with it I highly recommend looking around the Secular connections forum for different alternatives.

I'm really glad you're here!

Welcome Harry! I agree with Dee. I never sat down and actually took pen to paper and made a recovery plan until recently but it was a major turning point for me. I also spend most evenings and weekends on SR.

Glad you're here.
