I'm in the UK too. There's likely to be a drug and alcohol centre near you. It's run by the government (I think). When I spoke to my doctor, that was when I got referred to them. They do group therapy, give you a key worker and can liaise with your doctor too.

I can go to a doctor but my problem is I travel for work-I'll be gone m-f then t-f, so it will be a problem getting in. Then what if I have issues on my work trip?

Maybe my goal for now should be to not get black out drunk until I can see a doctor.

the trouble is you won't have any more control over that than I do, Jules.

All the advice here has been to see a Dr, but it's your call.
Wishing you the best
