I can't believe it

When I look back over the last 2 or 3 years I can't believe how much I was drinking and how it took me so long to realise I had a problem!

On the flip side, becoming aware of it and recognizing it as a problem for you is a great step towards getting healthy. But yes, the realization of just how much we were drinking is mind boggling at times.

Not drinking now makes me realise how much it was taking over my life and making me miserable.

Exactly. We often can't become fully aware of how big of an issue it was until we aren't in the midst of using.

That's why they call it addiction. There is no positive benefit yet we continued to intentionally poison ourselves and the lives of those around us. Realizing that now is proof that you have beaten that addiction back at bay so logic and life can prevail....good work.
