Summer Job in a Bar??
Hi All,
I just wanted to give a quick update...
I ended up finding a summer job in the animal field. I make double what I would have made as a hostess (in a bar) and work 1/3 of the hours. And, it helps with staying sober because I have to be really active and work early in the morning. I'm glad I passed on the bar-job!

When I stopped I was bartending one day week, I thought I could deal with it, I quit after 3 weeks sober. Not completely because of the temptation to drink, but more because I found the regular customers had become quite annoying. ( not that they weren't before, but I would put up with them until I could drink too.
Where I work my full time job sells alcohol, but there is absolutely no temptation anymore.
Maybe in time it would be okay, but for now, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
OOPS didn't read your latest post! Congrats on working with the animals, hope you'll find it much more enjoyable!

Whats more important to you? Being sober or drinking? It sounds like a terrible idea.
My sponsor tells me "Nick, if you hang out at the barber shop eventually your going to get a haircut".
Goodluck. I have been sober almost 2 years and I don't ever want to work a job in a bar. It is risky for my sobriety. Id have a much better chance of staying sober at a job that I won't be handling alcohol all the time. Trust me that might F up your thinking and before you know it your screwed.
You know its a bad idea.
