One Year Sober
 

it's been a tough road but the rewards are so, so worth it.

I fought and I struggled and I couldn't stay sober. I lost my job, my daughter wouldn't see me, then my marriage and my health went. I had to leave my family home. I still couldn't stop.

I am so lucky I didn't die during that last withdrawal. I'm lucky that sobriety started to stick. I stayed close to AA and SR during the first 6 months, and the support and friendship made such a difference.

my life is so much better today. if I can do this then so can you. it takes hard work but the results have been amazing.

Congrats Chickippo, it's always nice to read the success stories....a little light in the dark for us still at the beginning of our journeys. Keep working your program and enjoying life, sounds like you have it beat now :)

I have a healthy respect for the booze and know it'll always be there waiting for me - but I've accepted it's not for me any more. and honestly - once I started to work on that acceptance it started to get easier.

for anyone struggling - it really does get easier. if it didn't then I doubt I'd be typing this right now.

Congratulations, that's a huge milestone. It does get better with time.
