Im afraid
I dont know how to stop. Its like im schizophrenic, i hate drinking, but i can't stop. Ive gone through treatment before but i relapsed. Im afraid the physical effects of not drinking are coming back. I have to go to work tomorrow but i cant sleep if i dont drink.
You will find so much support here. It's incredible really
As for the trouble sleeping, meditation is good. Also, if you would rather, you can talk to your doctor about something short term as you work on sobriety. Melatonin is also good. Long, hot baths with lavender followed by some gentle yoga is also incredible. It's about retraining the brain once the physical wds are over.

Welcome to SR, glad you found us!
That's the addict living in your head talking, because of course you know how to stop drinking - you discontinue pouring liquor into that hole under your nose. Works every time.
What you haven't figured out is how to be happy about not drinking. That is trickier and takes more time. We can help you with that, but you will never figure it out if you keep drinking.
Best of Luck on Your Journey!

Welcome DDshamith. Withdrawals generally get worse, not better each time you return to drinking. If you had withdrawals that required medical supervision last time around, you really need to at least see a doctor before doing it again. It's definitely a scary time, but remember that WD's are only temporary. And many of us have been through them so we understand how you feel - and we want you to be safe about it.
Welcome ddshamith
I was afraid too - afraid I couldn't stop, and afraid of what might happen if I could.
This place helped me a lot. Stick around, read and post as much as you like.
You're not alone in all this

I think im committed to a long night of staring at the walls. I did get a little sleep during the day. I have a meeting tomorrow after work, so hopefully that will be fruitful. Thanks again for the supportive words.
Welcome to SR. You're not alone in this struggle.
I can relate to the staring at the walls/not sleeping.
It's amazing really how quickly my body regulated itself back to normalcy after some sober time.
Take it day by day. It'll get better...bit by bit.
Great idea on the meeting tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.
