leb here -15 weeks sober

Hi everyone, Just checking in to say I'm 15 weeks now and cravings are pretty much gone. I still get the occasional fleeting thought that I might be missing something, but I remind myself how I used to feel after a boozy night yuk!

I'm still exercising regularly but still pretty unhealthy eating. I'm very overweight after years of drinking but I think I have lost some since I quit the alcohol. People tell me that anyway.

Went to doc and BP cholesterol and triglycerides still high. I am now going to work on healthy low fat diet. I must say up til now I've let myself eat whatever I feel like. I don't want to be a food binger though, so will now begin the healthy eating plan.

I remember when I first started this my aim was to live life without constantly thinking about alcohol and planning and thinking about when I could drink. That is certainly beginning to happen. I feel like I am a non drinker and go days without thinking about it. Thank you god!

Mentally I'm feeling great. Self esteem massively better. Anxiety and worrying much less. I will remain alert though for that sneaky impulsive AV who might still be lurking and waiting to trip me up.

It really does get so much better, hang in there everyone together we can do this.

You've really hit the nail on the head about what it's like to be an A, maybe not in the worst category, but still having your whole life revolve around drinking.

You've got through the worst with more eating, and I think that was wise but now you're capable of controlling that. Congratulations; it only gets better.

Leb big congrats on the 15 weeks!! I am on my 10th week now and still some to go... And, like you I feel not doing so well with the healthy eating thing...but am making progress (she says still digesting the sweet pancakes and syrup she just had! - they were fab...). Gradually though,it seems to all come together, doesn't it?

Congratulations on 15 weeks. I'm glad you touched on the anxiety and cravings. I'm back to my first day sober after slipping and it's comforting to know!
