About me. In 2003 I was sent to pain management and became addicted to opiates. I quit cold turkey in 2011, I was sick for 40 days. I really thought I could not live my life without opiates. Today I don't even think about it.
Looks like I traded one addiction for another. I'm scared that I can't live without alcohol. Why would I love something that is a problem in my life.
It takes time and money to drink. Six hours to drink after work and four hours to nurse a hangover....every stinking day! I spend about 400.00 a month on beer. I drink 14-20 beers a night and still go to work in the morning. What sane person would participate in that kind of madness.
I'm 2 days clean today, but I have gone 2 months sober before. Summer will be here soon and I know it's gonna be hard.

Welcome 50thstate! You're in good company. Very glad you decided to stop the madness.
Congratulations on your 2 clean days. Reading and posting here will help. We all understand how you're feeling.

Welcome to SR and congratulations on 2 days!
There are a lot of people here who totally understand what you're going through. I've swapped addictions a few times, but recovery is GREAT!
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Hi and welcome. I drank daily and spent insane amounts of money on alcohol. It's great that you are thinking ahead to summer. You can get on more solid ground before then.
One day at a time and good job on day two.
