Looking around, not sure if this is the right thread.

Hi, Frank!

You've started your own thread. It's in the "newcomers" forum. It'll also appear in the "New Posts" section.

ScottFromWI 04-14-2015 12:19 PM

Welcome Frank - this is the best place to be as a newcomer, hope you can stick around!

FrankLapidas 04-14-2015 12:21 PM

Thank you SDH and Scott.

Anna 04-14-2015 12:37 PM

This is a great place to start, and Welcome to SR.

Chadders 04-14-2015 01:08 PM

Hi Frank, welcome to SR. It's my 4th day alcohol-free and this forum is helping me enormously. I hope you can stick around and make the most of it.
Best Wishes

Hello & Welcome Frank Lapidas

FrankLapidas 04-14-2015 04:02 PM

Guess I'm reading the wrong threads. They seem mostly depressing and stories of failure.

Try the success stories section. Many inspiring and successful stories there.

Hevyn 04-14-2015 04:11 PM

Good to meet you Frank. We all understand how you're feeling. It helps to no longer be alone with the problem.

Venecia 04-14-2015 04:13 PM

Welcome, Frank!

I can understand where you're coming from. Lots of long-timers hang out here in various forums, including this one.

Newcomer's Daily Support Threads - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

There you'll see the One Year and Overs, and lots of us monthly "classmates" who hang out with those that embarked on their journeys at the same time.

Don't give up.

Tomorrow, I mark my 20th month of sobriety and life has been sooooo much better! There really is a lot of hope and inspiration here. You'll also find that a lot of folks make note of special milestones in the Newcomers Forum and elsewhere. Lots of joy to spread around from those inspirational posts!

Interesting choice of screen name. Were you a "Lost" fan by chance? I was, and remain, a huge Lostie.

FrankLapidas 04-14-2015 04:20 PM

Venecia . . . Yes, Frank Lapidas is a Lost character, sort of like I'm Lost now.

I'll start another Day One tomorrow Self-Detox which I can only hope to sleep though. It's ugly.

Hevyn and Thomas . . . I will look at some cheerier threads. Thank you.

sugarbear1 04-14-2015 05:11 PM

I was a lost cause who lost everything

took me many years to try to stay stopped

soon I will have 4 continuous years of sobriety!

there is hope for you, too :)

FrankLapidas 04-14-2015 05:20 PM

. . . thank your reply SugarBear1

sugarbear1 04-14-2015 05:23 PM

come to chat and I'll tell you my story

in fact, there is a meeting tonight at 9 EST in the chat room!!

FrankLapidas 04-14-2015 05:28 PM

. . . I tried the chat earlier, but couldn't get in. I'm using Chromebook. It won't download Java or Silverlight.

Oh well.

MIRecovery 04-14-2015 05:32 PM

Welcome

Lots of experience strength and hope here.

FrankLapidas 04-14-2015 05:38 PM

. . . MIRecovery

Thank you for your reply.

I've been in this situation (self-detox) before and it won't be fun. I'm already hearing a radio station in my head when there is no radio on in the house. DT stuff. But to give credit to the radio station in my head, they are playing my favorite tunes.
